August, 2003 open eyes, open circle pen glides across paper in strokes chew root of cherry tree breathe air of elegant mountain cowbell sings I took my heart and coughed it up I swallowed it again for you my love It beats daily in rhythm to time My dreaming fingers pick a shout in Forest desert The ink and crying donkey song give storm to village skys In dreamland state of nervous sleep In trance of 3:15 time zone The moon tonight dipped below mountain I ate my heart to hear ir sing Night was treacle, sticking to My mumouring stomach I try now to lick thick night away With licking cuts of dagger tongue Night holds my childlike hand in an impossible grasp I claw and push and shout and cry but nights blanket stays Even the moon tonight, waxing strong, hides beyond mountain stone Dark elegant diving trees guard The meadow of nightly shocks Circle fire open in centre meadow Pushes dark into edged tree camp Oily black sticking night Will make me swallow my heart many times But i live in wonder, in knowledge A golden bright orb Will push powerfully over Mountain pine And chase dark into another day
