Letter Fourteen – Windows Close Fast

 

Watch Mars follow the ripe plum full moon   or

out beyond Queen Anne Hill or the Aurora Bridge

for a moment   sunset clouds inherit

the hues of a burning star    the daily mystery  of

fire before our eyes

smoldering a few million miles from here & falling

beneath

the bridge in a

prayer answered  summer not wasted   day

of kayak on Lake Union   the

fine

weather   the smiling daughter

 

and the skyline beyond her outline.

Its August & these

windows close fast as an orange star drops

looked @ over Lake Union

out beyond Queen Anne Hill or Aurora Bridge

on a typical August Wednesday

the setting sun ticks away her childhood     & later the

Milky Way is backdrop for Mars chasing the near full ripe plum moon.
