I sometimes wonder What it would feel like To spin out of control And experience Weightlessness Because I will never leave The surface of the earth The soil binds me here Gravity keeps me in line And what a line to toe The lines of the highways Stretching endlessly Black and white and yellow Beckoning Trying to over-ride the lure of the waterways The scenic byways The secret rabbit paths in the forest Where bunnies frolic And fairies have tea-parties With dew-drop honey And carrot cake But the carpeted maze Seems to catch me more often And I've forgotten to leave Tea and cakes for the garden Fairies again Hopefully they'll understand And leave some for me Instead.
