the last minute ceased to come
why?     because of all the
     recent cereal box
     top murders

     floating in a bowl of milk

in the background she
guarded her turtle shell
w/equal under-enthusiasm

next blue-boned stunt

     I like to pretend there
     is a fire escape because
chances are     someone
     will drive          next time

will be a call for
applications and a puff of
smoke          next time she'll
set the alarm w/ temperament
