Perseids with friend on the truck,
violent anxiety seizing
the mental territory,
grip of a fist on the sky

unspeakable fear, a loss
beyond all proportion,
horror without.
within.  what to call it.

these raw wounds of our survival
scrapes and bends of daily
living they call it
being

worldless and completely
alone
watching the fingers of cloud
close over the dark

the palm of hate eclipse the stars.
